Mathematics, which took place from 24 to 28 January 2011 at the CCH South, here in Mexico City, and my conference (which can be downloaded in PDF format from this link
), is precisely the "
recreational programming," a term apparently coined, although Google can be found some entries on similar subjects to me that I've ever done. The thing is that when I got to my lecture, I was finishing Jorge Volpi, writer and director of Channel 22 (which produces the Electric Sheep), and talked about his book "In Search of Klingsor
" . Very interesting in every way, especially knowing that it took too long to write this novel.
At the end of it, I went to give my talk. the auditorium was full and apparently liked the track. The students laughed at the mention irreverent
cursor, for example, changing " Mannitol "computer for the" Britney-signal
. "also spoke of Liza, a program that is able to answer any question in natural language. I talked for the virtues of making something entertaining programming, leaving a little side step. In this way, you can make nice programs that solve a problem for other trivial, or do something interesting. Well, that gives the program a "new look", where apart from learning something about programming, let's have a good time.
The cycle in question was a success. On Friday 28 January, which concluded There was everything from handmade fractals to Alice in Wonderland (and what Alice found the other side of the mirror), with students like the characters so remarkable story of Lewis Carroll. Unfortunately I could not get the closure, but Rodrigo sent me some photos that I share in this blog. Hopefully these efforts will continue to make and I get the chance to any other event of this nature.
